The Professional and Scholar Communities Applied Learning (PASCAL) Center Coordinator supports the strategic growth, daily operations, and developmental programming of scholarship communities at Colorado School of Mines. This full-time position collaborates across departments to enhance scholar engagement, retention, and success through events, advising, data tracking, and administrative support—while also providing part-time coordination for the Future Energy Scholars program within University Honors and Scholars.
Summary
The PASCAL Center Coordinator supports the strategic growth and daily operations of designated scholarship communities at Colorado School of Mines. In this position, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing intentional, developmental programming that enhances student success and strengthens community. Aligned with the vision outlined in the university’s Mines@150 plan, scholarship communities at Mines provide not only financial support but also a structured environment for learning, leadership development, and connection.
In this job, you serve as an integral member of the PASCAL Center team, contributing to its mission of supporting scholars through intentional, impactful, and community-centered initiatives.
The Coordinator assists in the operational aspects of assigned scholarship communities, including student selection and onboarding, ongoing engagement and support, retention, alumni involvement, and event planning and execution. You also collaborate closely with the PASCAL Center Director and Assistant Director to refine existing communities and help launch new ones. This work will involve partnerships with key campus offices, including the Mines Foundation, the President’s Office, Enrollment Management, and Financial Aid.
Through these efforts, you help advance the university’s commitment to scholar success and inclusive excellence. Additionally, you provide part-time support to University Honors and Scholars (UHS) in stewarding and supporting the Future Energy Scholars program. Efforts include data collection and tracking, co-advising and curricular planning, and supporting programming and recruitment efforts.
This is a full-time, 12 month exempt administrative faculty position. This position has some flexibility for hybrid work; on campus presence is required at least three days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Scholarship Communities Programming and Engagement
The Coordinator collaborates with the Assistant Director and fellow team members to plan and execute scholar community programming throughout the academic year. Duties may include reserving event spaces, placing catering orders, negotiating contracts with guest speakers or lecturers, developing and facilitating workshops, managing student volunteers at events, and more. Programming should reflect PASCAL priorities and standards, along with any guidance, requirements, or expectations outlined for the specific scholarship community.
- Meets regularly with scholars, to provide guidance related to scholarship requirements and will connect students to appropriate academic resources as needed.
- Maintains a consistent and reliable presence at scholar events, including evenings and weekends, and assist with logistics such as setting up spaces, checking in guests, facilitating programming, and supporting post-event teardown and clean-up.
