Associate Computational Materials Modeler

Overview

Support research in materials application and macrostructure design through computer modeling. Collaborate with teams to discover structure-process-property correlations and apply engineering principles to meet material-design requirements. Provide support in material selection and design to meet product development goals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing computational modeling, such as finite element analysis and fluid dynamics, to evaluate material and system performance.
  • Work with materials such as metals, ceramics, plastics, and composites to address design requirements.
  • Analyze test results and apply findings to improve materials or product designs.
  • Support development of new products by applying engineering knowledge and expanding tool usage.
  • Investigate designs to improve performance, optimize processes, or solve technical problems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and team members to address customer concerns and contribute to product/process development and improvement.
  • May conduct research to validate simulation models.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in Materials Science, Ceramics, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 1-5 years of materials or mechanical engineering combined with simulation experience.
  • Experience:

    Numerical modeling in predicting/measuring mechanical performance, distortion, and stresses as a function of temperature in complex structures; modeling mass transport in chemical reactors preferred. 1-5 years of experience with ANSYS Finite Element Analysis and/or Fluent (preferred) or similar (Abaqus, COMSOL) and CAD such as Solid Works.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Familiarity with numerical methods; ability to learn and apply tools for modeling and analysis (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, Fluent, Rocky, Solid Works); experience with error analysis and calculating confidence limits for simulations; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective written and verbal communication; organized and detail-oriented; ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team.
  • Position-specific:
    Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times in designated work areas.
Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 90,196.00 - USD . Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
