This role is responsible for selecting, installing, programming, testing, calibrating, operating, troubleshooting, and repairing process control systems along with their related software, hardware, and equipment. It also involves creating electrical or mechanical drawings to support programs within the department.
Roles & Responsibilities- Serve as a subject matter expert in PLC‑based process control systems, with a focus on Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Install, program, test, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial automation and control systems to ensure reliable equipment performance.
- Interface with corporate IT and engineering teams to integrate PLCs, HMIs, and control networks with plant systems and data infrastructure.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs for production and process equipment (e.g., Control Logix, S7, Factory Talk, TIA Portal).
- Support commissioning, startup, and ongoing maintenance of automation equipment, ensuring proper function of sensors, drives, and I/O systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to I/O logic networks (ASi, Profibus PA, IO-Link, Ethernet/IP) and control hardware.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on process improvements, system upgrades, and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, P&IDs, and manufacturer manuals as part of troubleshooting and project execution.
- Manage technical communication with vendors, integrators, and equipment manufacturers for controls and automation components.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards (NEC, ISA, IEC, NEMA).
- Stay current on emerging automation technologies and industry trends to continuously improve plant control systems.
- Associate’s degree (or higher) in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on PLC and automation experience, preferably in a manufacturing or process automation environment.
- Proven experience with Allen Bradley (Control Logix, PLC‑5) and/or Siemens (S7, TIA Portal) systems.
- Experience with HMI programming (Factory Talk, Wonderware, or equivalent).
- Background in electrical systems troubleshooting, commissioning, and controls integration.
- Proficient in PLC/HMI programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, IO-Link).
- Working knowledge of industrial safety systems, including lockout/tagout and interlocks.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, P&IDs, and instrumentation diagrams.
- Ability to use test instruments (multimeters, oscilloscopes, calibration devices).
- Solid math, analytical, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in industrial manufacturing environments and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
USD 65,367.00 – USD 85,000.00. Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
