Research Associate in Biomedical Engineering Position Overview
This position is funded through a National Institutes of Health grant focused on developing aerosolized microrobots capable of delivering chemotherapeutic drugs to the lungs for the treatment of lung cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the in vitro aspects of this grant, including developing permanent magnet–based instrumentation capable of manipulating colloidal swarms in 3D lung mimics. Associated responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
Required Qualifications- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience in developing biomedical instrumentation for manipulating (micro) robotic systems in vivo.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students; partnership with U. of Colorado Denver Anschutz medical campus is preferred.
- Strong background in magnetic-field manipulation and colloidal science.
- Perform research on magnetic-field manipulation of colloidal swarms.
- Develop in vitro models that mimic mouse and human lung tissue.
- Mentor students working on synergistic projects.
- Analyze data and publish results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
