By combining proprietary satellite technology, advanced AI forecasting models, and actionable analytics, Tomorrow.io delivers hyper-local weather insights that protect lives, strengthen operations, and build climate resilience globally.
Our space program is core to this mission. We are building and operating a weather observation constellation powered by internally developed sensing technologies - transforming how atmospheric data is captured and used worldwide.
Tomorrow.io is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to aid the development, integration, and verification of an integrated satellite vehicle for our weather observation constellation. In this role, you will translate mission objectives into technical requirements, develop verification and validation plans, manage system risks, and coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high reliability and data quality. You will join a collaborative, high-performing environment that values technical excellence, shared accountability, and the pursuit of ambitious, mission-driven engineering goals.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate and plan how weather sensing payloads operate, interact and perform on orbit.
- Develop payload architecture and technical designs from concept through launch and operations.
- Define and manage payload requirements, verification plans, and traceability.
- Coordinate payload interfaces with the spacecraft bus and partner teams.
- Plan and carry out payload integration and testing; document results and track technical performance.
- Model payload and mission performance, conduct trade studies, and support trajectory and constellation planning using Ansys STK.
- Identify and address technical risks; investigate operational anomalies and determine root causes.
- Work with engineers, scientists, partners, and leadership to resolve technical issues and improve engineering quality.
What You Bring
- 6+ years developing, integrating, and testing complex space systems, such as satellite payloads or spacecraft.
- Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related.
- Strong knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, payload integration, and performance modeling.
- Experience with system architecture, requirements and interfaces, verification planning, and integrated testing.
- Familiarity with MBSE or similar systems engineering methods.
- Experience conducting system trade studies and managing technical and program risks.
- Familiarity with orbital mechanics, LEO Earth observation constellations, and mission analysis tools such as STK, GMAT, or Orekit.
- Ability to work across engineering and science teams and explain technical topics clearly to varied audiences.
- Sound engineering judgment and adaptability in fast-moving development environments.
- A mission-level perspective, with integrity, accountability, transparency, and a willingness to learn from both successes and setbacks.
- Ability to travel 15-20%; ability to lift up to 35 pounds while traveling.
Joining Tomorrow.io as a Systems Engineer means:
