We provide continuous training and support to help you strengthen your skills and advance within the department. Employees are eligible to apply for special assignments, duties, and instructor ships after successful completion of a twelve‑month probationary period.
NOTE:
This is a continuous posting for Police Officer. If you are not currently POST Certified or enrolled in a POST academy, please apply for Police Officer Trainee if posted. If you have at least one (1) year of solo patrol experience, please apply for our Lateral Officer position. This posting will remain open until vacancies have been filled.

- Respond to calls for service.
- Interpret and uphold various laws.
- Prevent, discover, and investigate crime.
- Preserve public order, protect lives and property, and maintain public safety.
- Apply knowledge, reason, and appropriate judgment to make prompt, effective decisions after evaluating alternative courses of action.
- Initiate citizen contacts, traffic stops, and investigate suspicious occurrences through community policing strategies.
- Interact with citizens to identify issues of concern and work together to resolve concerns.
- Facilitate community problem solving and take enforcement action when appropriate.
- Observe, listen, and analyze activities in a wide variety of situations; make valid assessments of relevant issues, problems, and potential solutions.
- Investigate, gather evidence, locate, and interview relevant persons; make arrests when required, take necessary police action, prepare reports and cases for prosecution, and testify in court.
- Act with sensitivity to the feelings of others, do not contribute to antagonism, interact effectively with diverse groups, utilize de‑escalation practices, act courteous and respectful, and use good customer service skills.
- Communicate effectively with a wide variety of people verbally and in writing, under varied circumstances, listen, understand, and resolve problems and potential solutions.
- Participate with others on work groups or committees to accomplish necessary additional tasks (e.g., PTO, School Programs, crime prevention officer, range officer, D.R.E., bicycle patrol, business associations, or neighborhood groups).
- Establish positive relationships with citizens, business, and other members of the community.
- Complete required paperwork including but not limited to reports, citations, and warrant paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and as described in the Parker Police Department Policy and Procedure Manual; may serve in a specialized assignment capacity.
- Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age at the time of employment and a Colorado P.O.S.T. certification as a Level 1 Peace Officer.
