Working at NLR: The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado. It is the nation's primary laboratory for energy systems research and development and focuses on advancing secure, reliable, and cost‑effective energy solutions.

Job Description: The NLR Director’s Fellowship attracts exceptionally qualified scientists and engineers in renewable energy research and related disciplines. Successful candidates will serve a two‑year term, with a potential third‑year renewal, to conduct research that supports NLR’s mission and goals.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

• Cover page (name, title of proposal, and NLR mentor)
• Curriculum Vitae
• Letter of recommendation from current supervisor or academic advisor
• Research proposal addressing long‑term engineering, scientific, or analysis needs that supports NLR’s mission. The proposal should identify an appropriate research area, state the challenges, define scientific or technological questions, and outline the strategy and approach.
• NLR mentor’s letter of intent supporting the candidate
• Name and contact information of two additional nationally known faculty or scientists knowledgeable about the candidate’s capabilities and research
• Proof of PhD degree prior to assignment start date
• All seven items uploaded as a single PDF under the “resume” option in the applicant tracking system

Basic Qualifications

• For current PhD students:
  All PhD requirements must be completed prior to appointment.
• For PhD graduates:
  PhD in Applied Engineering, Fundamental Science, Engineering, or Science Technology with substantial work in analysis within two years of the Final date to receive applications.
• Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

Annual Salary Range (based on full‑time 40 hours per week)

Job Profile:
Postdoctoral Researcher / Annual Salary Range: $74,900 - $123,600
