Summary:

We are looking for a Family Practice Physician for an immediate opening at our Seymour Johnson Air Force Base location. The Family Health Clinic provides care to DoD beneficiary categories of all ages. This clinic also provides acute maintenance and follow-up care, inpatient care, and education for patients with multiple health conditions requiring comprehensive medication management.

Key

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as primary care manager for a panel of patients.
• Admit inpatients.
• Maintain a program of comprehensive health for the family unit, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
• Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur.
• Answer telephone consults with assistance of clinic staff.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric and adult acute and chronic diseases and injuries.
• Determine need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
• Approve/disapprove subspecialty referrals.
• May be responsible for clinical oversight of physician assistants/nurse practitioners on the Patient Centered Medical Home.

Experience

• Must have graduated from an accredited Family Practice residency within one year of hire OR have a minimum of 5 years experience in Family Practice.

Key Skills and Knowledge

Working Conditions: Outpatient medical facility providing the following services:
Family Health, Flight Medicine, Health Promotions, Immunizations, Mental Health, Optometry, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, and Public Health.

Work Hours

• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Scheduled shifts are normally Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
• 1-hour unpaid lunch

Education

Eligible for board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine (AOBFM) AND must have been board certified by the ABFM or AOFM within the last 2 years (unless the candidate meets the criteria of having completed residency within the last year)
