Aircraft Mechanic II (F-15) Avionics/Electrician

Aircraft mechanical personnel support F-15 aircraft maintenance operations. This position may be at either one of our locations based at Mountain Home Air Force Base, / or Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, NC and requires CONUS/OCONUS travel to support maintenance operations throughout the United States and overseas. Ideal candidates are experienced F-15 avionics/electrical technicians with a strong background in troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and maintaining aircraft electrical, wiring, avionics, and associated systems to ensure aircraft mission readiness.

Duties
  • Perform aircraft maintenance, repair, modification, troubleshooting, and component replacement of moderate difficulty, with primary emphasis on F-15 avionics and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft electrical wiring, avionics systems, components, harnesses, connectors, and associated equipment using applicable test equipment and technical data.
  • Apply working knowledge of aircraft systems, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, structures, and mechanical components, when troubleshooting aircraft discrepancies.
  • Interpret technical publications, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturers' manuals, engineering data, and other approved technical documentation to resolve moderate-to-complex maintenance problems.
  • Perform aircraft electrical and avionics modifications and support applicable Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Modification Work Orders (MWO), and Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) activities.
  • Inspect work performed by Aircraft Mechanic I and II personnel when authorized and provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Lead personnel through more complex aircraft maintenance or modification tasks as assigned and prioritize workload to support established aircraft schedules.
  • Perform required aircraft inspections and document completed maintenance and modification actions in applicable aircraft logs and records.
  • Use and maintain applicable aircraft tools and test equipment in accordance with technical, calibration, tool-control, and FOD requirements.
  • Perform fiber optic cable installation, cleaning, inspection, and testing when assigned and properly qualified in accordance with PWS.
  • Comply with applicable safety, quality, ESD, security, technical-data, and maintenance documentation requirements.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the task order as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience performing aircraft avionics and/or electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, wiring, and modification within the Aircraft Mechanic II scope of work.
  • F-15 avionics/electrical experience is strongly preferred.
  • S. Air Force training or awarded AFSC in 2A3X4 (Fighter Aircraft Integrated Avionics, F-15 / 2A3X4B) or 2A6X6 (Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems), or equivalent formal military or civilian avionics/electrical training, is preferred.
  • Must be able to interpret technical orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, and related technical data, and apply aircraft electrical and avionics troubleshooting practices.
  • FAA Airframe certificate or FCC license is desired but not required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance with favorable Tier 3/Secret adjudication and remain eligible for installation access, a Common Access Card, and required Government information-system access.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to work the normal Monday-Friday day shift, , and approved overtime or adjusted schedules when mission requirements change.
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license when vehicle or airfield-operation duties are assigned.
  • Must comply with Tyonek, installation, OSHA, environmental, safety, security, FOD-prevention, tool-control, and hazardous-material procedures applicable to assigned work.
