Overview
Principal Product Development Mechanical Engineer role ation: CA601:
Goleta (EW) Bldg H01, 6380 Hollister Avenue Building H01, Goleta, CA, 93117 USA. Onsite. DoD Clearance:
Secret. The role involves leading new product development within the Electronic Warfare Mechanical Design Hardware Department, supporting programs in Goleta, with interfaces across sections and engineering disciplines.
- Lead programs as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL); liaison to programs to ensure success against technical, cost, and schedule parameters; oversee junior engineers’ assignments and performance.
- Apply working knowledge of electronics packaging design and manufacturing, including thermal/structural design and analysis, electrical component design, PCB/assembly processes and failure modes, metal fabrication and finishing, RF isolation mechanical design, and environmental test methods and equipment.
- Develop electronics/processor systems using COTS/MOTS components; provide technical guidance and mentor matrix team; deliver technical presentations and cultivate customer relationships; communicate effectively with program leadership.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
- Experience with Mechanical Design, Development and/or Implementation of Defense-related Electronic Systems.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME drawing standards; proficiency in solid modeling (CREO or equivalent) with at least 3 years of design experience.
- Experience with EW/Radar Systems or RF Products;
Conformal Antenna Array Packaging. - Experience with budgeting and scheduling (Earned Value Management); design reviews and presenting to customers.
- Electronics packaging, cabling/harness design, or PCB design and routing; structural and thermal analysis using FEA;
Basis of Estimate (BOE) development for proposals. - Proficiency with COTS/MOTS design and development; root cause analysis and corrective actions; customer interfacing.
