Athena Engineering and Environmental, LLC (Athena) is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm that provides geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water resources, surveying, and value engineering services. Our clients include public organizations (federal, state, and local), transportation agencies (such as highways and airports), and private entities. Athena is headquartered in Metro Nashville – Goodlettsville, TN, and currently has a branch office in Bowling Green, KY.

As an Athena Team Member, you’ll receive close supervision and on‑the‑job training to develop your skills and expertise. You will work closely with senior engineering staff, gaining hands‑on experience in the office, the field, and our lab while learning best‑practice methods to become a successful engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with geotechnical investigations of basic to moderate size and complexity under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Support coordination and scheduling of geotechnical field explorations.
  • Assign geotechnical laboratory tests and review results.
  • Assist with the preparation of field reports and documentation.
  • Work with Project Managers to review construction documents and daily field reports.
  • Independently perform geotechnical analyses, including shallow foundation bearing capacity and settlement, deep foundation capacities (drilled shafts, auger‑cast piles, driven piles, etc.), and slope stability.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports and proposals under limited guidance and supervision of a senior engineer.
Education Required

A bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering from a four‑year accredited college or university is required.

Qualifications
  • 1 to 4 years of experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Tennessee/Kentucky or the ability to obtain it within 2 years.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Geo Studio, and LPILE software.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
