Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, sweepers, etc.).

• Document records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Select repair parts and update parts records.
• Repair mechanical damage and replace defective parts, which may include welding, brazing, and soldering. Repairs are made to mechanical handling equipment, racking, floors, piping, and to other warehouse structural components.
• Apply mechanical skills and knowledge to troubleshooting and repair of electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, fabrication, building construction, and other warehouse maintenance/repair situations.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and other diagnostic aids in the scope of troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication work.
• Be familiar with mechanical hand tools, and with measuring instruments (tape measures, micrometers, drill gauges, etc.).

• Routine lifting of parts weighing 40–50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting of parts weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, working overhead, beside, and underneath equipment or in racking.
• Work on ladders, elevated platforms, and in confined spaces.
• May experience a variety of temperature and weather conditions (outside in Winter and Summer). Work in noisy environments (wearing hearing protection).
• Temperature extremes vary from work in the freezer (-20° F) to the roof (120° F).
• Must wear protective clothing, such as safety glasses, goggles, welding helmet, ear protection, insulated clothing and gloves, etc.
• Exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, oil, grease, and other materials associated with the warehouse and related equipment.
