Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Performs a variety of skilled work to maintain water wells, chemical feeder equipment, pumps, motors, telemetering sensory equipment, treated water storage facilities, water distribution pipelines and related appurtenances. Performs difficult technical and mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of water treatment and conveyance facilities. May provide direction to peers and subordinates in performance of routine day-to-day work activities.
The ideal candidate for this position shall be a highly energetic and self‑motivated individual, with the necessary technical and interpersonal skills. The candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the maintenance & operation of a water treatment or distribution system to include, the repair and operation of wells, boosters pumps, reservoirs, valves, altitude valves and instrumentation. Having knowledge of basic RO and arsenic treatment facility operation would be ideal but is not required.
Shall be able to maintain a positive attitude and represent the City in a professional way. Shall also support the Department’s safety culture. The successful candidate will be able to plan, manage and prioritize work assignments to efficiently perform job assignments. Shall be able to work well with others as a team and/or individual to complete daily tasks and scheduled work based on a maintenance program and the needs of the production system.
The ability to be able to make field decisions based on established policies, procedures and SOP’s are strongly desired. An ADEQ Water Treatment or Water Distribution Grade II certificate, and a CDL Class A Driver’s License is preferred but is not required at time of hire.

- Delivers outstanding customer service. Establishes and maintains open communication with all internal and external customers; to include co‑workers, contractors, residents, and other City departments. Informs immediate supervisor of daily operations, important developments, and work activities.
- Adheres to industry and City safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures. Provides services in accordance with government standards such as Bluestake, OSHA, and MAG, prepares and submits required safety records and reports. Works as a team to develop and implement Job Hazardous Analysis (JHA) for the Department Safety Program.
- Executes routine and emergency operational, maintenance, and repair functions on equipment utilized in the water production division. Clarifies routine day‑to‑day priorities in the field. Provides input to supervisors regarding performance reviews for UT I and self.
