Performs semi‑skilled work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater reclamation facilities, treatment plant processes, equipment, and appurtenances as well as reclaimed water system. Maintains, monitors, installs, and/or repairs the City’s wastewater and reclaimed water facilities.
Salary: $47,611.20 - $70,678.40 annually

- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations by streamlining work processes and maintaining records and documents daily.
- Delivers outstanding customer service and maintains open communication with internal and external customers.
- Adheres to industry and City safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Executes routine and emergency operational, maintenance, construction, and repair functions.
- Operates all equipment used in wastewater reclamation facilities and performs daily lab procedures, interpreting results and making necessary adjustments.
- Formal Education/Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum one year in a related field.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license, ADEQ Grade I Operator License in Wastewater Treatment, and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 12 months of hire.
- Reading, math, writing, managerial, policy/decision making, technical skills, and human relations skills as outlined.
- Become familiar with City policies, safety standards, and SOPs.
- Perform all daily rounds, equipment inspections, required data collection and maintain operational logbooks.
- Use Lucity work order system and complete timesheets and leave forms.
- Explain the importance of safety and record keeping.
- Perform process laboratory testing and update supervisor with daily results.
- Keep supervisor apprised of equipment issues and facility conditions.
- Understand the Aquifer Protection Permit and AZPDES permit alert limits.
- Obtain a Class B CDL driver’s license with Tanker endorsement.
- Process digested solids and operate centrifuge operations.
- Identify RAS and WAS pipe routing at all Water Reclamation Facilities.
- Explain hydraulic flow path and effluent discharge options.
- Obtain ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Treatment certification.
- Understand Nitrification and De‑nitrification processes.
