Job Description Summary

This position may be eligible for a signing bonus, referral incentive and/or moving reimbursement. Under general direction of the Plan Review Manager, acts as the technical lead for the Plan Review Division with a direct supervisory role of up to 5 personnel consisting of Senior Civil Engineers, Civil Engineers and Plans Examiners; supervisory role includes performing one on one meetings with direct reports, conducting annual and trial period reviews as directed by the Plan Review Manager or City Policy and Administrative Guidelines Manual, providing direct support for subordinate staff in reviews, meetings and problem resolution;

coordinates and participates in the conduct of complex engineering projects, including research and review for a variety of public works and water and wastewater utility capital improvements; performs case reviews for new developments to ensure compliance to City master plans, standards, and coordination with City capital improvement projects; assists Plan Review Manager with division level-loading, work assignment, and coordinates the work of professional and technical staff;

coordinates and administers contracts for professional services; and performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Formal Education/Knowledge:
    Work requires specialized knowledge in a professional or technical field. Work requires professional level of knowledge of a discipline equivalent to that which is acquired in a Master’s degree-level of study or appropriate certification, Professional Engineer, Professional Surveyor, or related.
  • Experience:

    Over seven years of experience in a related field.
  • Certifications and Other Requirements:
    Valid Driver’s License. Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer and/or Land Surveyor.
  • Reading:
    Work requires the ability to read state statutes, federal laws, technical reports and manuals, research papers, construction plans and specifications, correspondence, legal documents, ordinances, and property legal descriptions at a professional level.
