Job purpose
:
The Processing Technician is responsible for testing ingredients and products, accurately measuring ingredients, batching, blending, and processing product while following and documenting processing and batching procedures. The Processing Technician is responsible for startup, flavor changes, sanitation, and basic preventative maintenance of blending and processing equipment. The technician observes, troubleshoots, and performs minor repairs to ensure processing equipment runs efficiently while meeting all quality specifications for the manufactured products.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and workplace rules.
  • Work safely and efficiently on equipment and follow all safety procedures, including use of safety equipment, to produce a quality product meeting all quality specifications.
  • Troubleshoot problems, perform minor repairs using correct tools, and perform preventive maintenance on processing equipment; report malfunctions to a supervisor to expedite repairs.
  • Demonstrate monitoring skills using visual observation of gauges and listening to mechanical sounds to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Move ingredients and waste in and out of processing areas using FIFO practices, hand carts, and forklifts as applicable.
  • Continuously monitor regulatory records and other required documentation, quality checks, and process checks.
  • Clean processing equipment and surrounding areas to maintain an audit-ready condition during production.
  • Understand and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy.
  • Keep daily records of finished goods and rejected materials.
  • Aid in training of new personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/qualifications
  • 18 years or older
  • Pass the drug test and pass the background check
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Basic computational skills; simple math and reasoning
  • Team-oriented and self-directed
  • Experience with high-speed production lines (fast-paced environment)
Working conditions and physical requirements

Sitting/Standing/Walking/Lifting/Carrying: The processing technician stands throughout the shift and walks on uneven surfaces. Lifting up to 60 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally; two or more employees may lift greater than 80 pounds.

Pushing/Pulling/Bending/Stooping: Pushing/pulling ingredients and waste, stacking boxes, cleaning duties; occasional bending and stooping during the workday.

Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling/Twisting/Turning: Occasional squatting, twisting, and turning when making connections or during clean-up tasks.

Climbing/Balancing/Reaching: Access equipment via platforms and ladders; reach above and below shoulder level as needed during shifts.

Grasping/Manipulation: Frequent use of hands and fingers.

Food safety requirements:

  • Notify supervision of repairs or adjustments that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Observe and comply with color-coded container policy in Production Areas.
  • Meet Company, Customer, and Government requirements/standards as prioritized.
  • Initiate action to prevent nonconformities related to Food Safety and product quality; identify and record related problems.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until deficiencies are corrected.
  • In the absence of a colleague, an equally skilled employee will assume duties as required.

Shift
:
Rotating shift schedule - 3,2,2 (work 3 days, off 2 days, work 2 days, then rotates) 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am.
