We are seeking dedicated and experienced Consultant(s) in Acute Medicine to join our team.

The successful candidate will form one of an expanded team of consultants in the department providing services at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust. The posts have been developed on the background of service redesign, 7‑day access and growing needs to support education and training. The appointees shall join General Physicians in medicine, each with a special interest.

The successful candidate will be on the GMC Specialist Register and will play a pivotal role in the management of acute medical patients, bringing leadership, expertise, and a holistic approach to patient care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver expert clinical care to acute medical patients, focusing on comprehensive and individualized treatment plans.
  • Lead and manage the acute medical unit, fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective patient care plans.
  • Engage with patients and their families, ensuring clear communication and shared decision-making.
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to enhance patient safety and quality of care.
  • Mentor and train junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of acute medicine.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota, providing emergency care and guidance as needed.

NLAG is developing and investing in its acute care model. Integrated Acute Assessment Units (IAAU), including Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), have been in place since 2020. Significant building improvements have taken place; two purpose‑built Emergency Departments, with a full refurbishment of IAAU. Information systems on the unit have been recently modernised to improve patient care and further initiatives to deliver a full Electronic Patient Record.
