Mechanically biased Maintenance Team Leader

Goole (DN14)

Up to £50,000

Days Only | Mon-Thu 8am-4:30pm | Fri Finish 2pm

Join a well-established manufacturing business as the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, leading a small engineering team while remaining hands‑on with maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance engineer ready to step into leadership, or an experienced team leader looking for a stable days-based role with no weekend working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and support a small team of one electrically biased and one newly qualified engineer.
  • Manage and develop the Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) programme.
  • Prioritise maintenance activities and coordinate engineering resources.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance.
  • Support production teams with engineering solutions.
  • Maintain compliance, documentation and safety standards.
  • Assist with contractor management and site improvement projects.
Requirements
Essential
  • Apprentice trained Maintenance Engineer (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and resolve mechanical failures using a logical and structured approach.
  • Hands‑on experience carrying out repairs, disassembly, alignment, rebuilding and reassembly of mechanical equipment.
  • Computer literate with the ability to use maintenance management systems and maintenance records.
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
Desirable
  • Multi‑skilled with electrical maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience maintaining filling, blending and packaging machinery.
