Develops and evaluates metrology calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects. Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms. Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements.

Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

• This role will directly support the operations team by using advanced metrology equipment to evaluate finished and semi finished components and assemblies alongside metrology technicians.
• A core understanding of industry leading metrology hardware/software and their application.
  • Spatial Analyzer (SA) experience is preferred.
• Proficient in industrial metrology principles and techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• The ability to maintain pace with a dynamic team supporting the needs of a growing organization.
• Ability to work directly with technicians and craftspeople on a production floor to resolve issues.
  • Naval shipbuilding or heavy steel fabrication experience preferred.
