Job Overview
HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is the largest industrial employer in Virginia, the sole designer, builder and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. HII’s diverse workforce ranges from skilled trades to project managers, engineers, software developers, technical subject matter experts and system users.
ResponsibilitiesPerform analyses, inspections and tests of raw materials, packaging materials, quantitative assays on samples and finished products to ensure quality standards, regulatory compliance and tolerance specifications. Conduct qualitative tests or assays, maintain and certify test instruments, and prepare and monitor quality statistics and reports. Review production records for conformance to procedures and conduct non‑conformance tests of manufactured, packaged or tested products.
Qualifications- Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalents: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, High School/GED and 2 years of related manufacturing/shipbuilding trades/military experience, or High School/GED and 4 years of non‑related manufacturing/shipbuilding trades/military experience.
Experience in shipbuilding or nuclear power operations, proficiency in quality control software, or advanced analytical testing skills.
