Role OverviewRiggers are highly specialized in moving jobs that cannot be accomplished by ordinary means. They use equipment designed for moving and lifting objects weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds in locations where ordinary material handling equipment cannot go. Because of the highly specialized nature of the work, riggers learn on the job. They must work together as a cohesive team and trust one another due to the potentially dangerous nature of rigging.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate and execute movement of large equipment and materials according to project specifications.
- Operate rigging equipment safely, adhering to all safety and security protocols.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of rigging tasks.
- Maintain rigging gear and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 additional years of education and/or related experience; or
Apprentice graduate/Associate's Degree in a relevant discipline and 1 year of related experience. - May require certification related to rigging operations.
- Prior experience in a shipbuilding or heavy industrial environment.
- Training or certification in high‑risk lifting operations.
