Part Time Accounting Assistant

Description We are looking for a Part Time Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a growing team in Maine. This is a Contract position offering a flexible part-time schedule, with a preference for Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The person in this role will focus on payables and bank reconciliation work while collaborating closely with accounting leadership in a casual office environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices accurately by reviewing coding details and preparing transactions for payment

- Perform three-way matching by comparing purchase documents, receipts, and invoices to confirm accuracy before entry

- Reconcile bank activity on a regular basis and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean financial records

- Support weekly accounts payable volume and help keep payment processing on schedule during high-demand periods

- Enter and maintain accounting data within Epicor while ensuring records are complete and up to date

- Work closely with the accountant during training and provide ongoing support through daily accounting tasks

- Assist with routine accounting administration and help maintain organized documentation for audit-ready files Requirements - Hands-on experience with accounts payable processing in a business environment

- Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently

- Experience coding invoices and reviewing supporting documentation

- Familiarity with three-way match procedures for invoice validation

- Working knowledge of Epicor or another ERP/accounting system

- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy with financial data

- Ability to manage part-time responsibilities effectively in a deadline-driven setting
