We are currently hiring for Public PreK Co-Teachers working with 4-5 yr olds at our 3 Gorham Industrial Parkway location.

Requirements And Responsibilities
  • Required Maine State Department of Education Certifications
  • 081 Early Childhood Teacher Certification
  • There may be an option for a Waiver for the first year IF the educator has a Bachelor’s Degree and is interested in pursuing Certification.
Desired Candidates Will
  • Have successful Prek and/or early elementary instructional experience.
  • Develop an inclusive classroom environment supportive of academic and social leaders.
  • Create effective rapport with students.
  • Demonstrate strong primary literacy knowledge.
  • Effectively plan and implement approved PreK for ME curriculum.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify student needs and effectively collaborate with other professional staff members and outside services in assessing and helping students.
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, good health, and safety, in alignment with our S2S mission, policies and philosophies.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with families.
  • Use technology effectively.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Work collaboratively with ed tech, and co teacher in classroom, as well as the larger PreK team. The 4-5 year old room has 16 students with 2 full-time teachers.

The co‑founder and Directors have a commitment to taking care of staff not just by providing a livable wage, but by creating an atmosphere of support and respect. We believe that teachers are an essential part of a child's development and as such we are committed to honoring them by providing a working environment that reflects the value they have in our communities.

Our center provides an Experiential Learn Model (ELM) to include a culinary program for the children coupled with our gardening programming. Staff will be encouraged to utilize fresh produce from our Farm Share, to share in meals provided by the school and to bring unique skills that they may have to the culture of the center.

We hope not only to encourage professional development goals, but also aim to provide opportunities for training and to support staff in following their desired career path.

As a non‑profit center the revenue generated by tuition and grants will go directly back into staff wages, program development, community outreach and building maintenance.

Staff will be paid during center closings, offered a fair time off package, and health care benefits. Served lunch daily, and a culture of community among colleagues and families.
