Role Overview
The Scrum Master at Damen Workboats supports multiple Agile teams working on hardware‑driven product development and associated engineering and process improvements. You help teams and the broader ART improve flow, predictability, and collaboration, acting as a sparring partner for Product Owners, engineers and leadership. You also work with other Scrum Masters and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) as part of the ART team to solve ART‑wide impediments and continuously improve practices.
Keyaccountabilities
- Facilitate Scrum events such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Coach teams and individuals in Scrum and Agile principles.
- Identify and help remove impediments that hinder progress.
- Support Product Owners in backlog management and prioritisation.
- Actively contribute to ART‑level improvement, including surfacing flow, dependencies and structural blockers in close collaboration with the RTE.
- Promote collaboration and cross‑team improvements within Workboats.
- Contribute to the further adoption and maturity of Agile working within Damen.
- Continuously improve processes, team dynamics and predictability.
- HBO or WO work and thinking level.
- Demonstrable experience as a Scrum Master in a complex (preferably technical or industrial) environment.
- Solid knowledge of Scrum and Agile practices (SAFe, LeSS or Kanban are a pre‑requisite).
- Scrum Master certification (PSM, CSM or equivalent).
- Strong communication and coaching skills.
- Positive criticality, organisational sensitivity and ability to get people moving.
- Good command of English, Dutch is a strong pre‑requisite.
- Affinity for or experience in hardware or product development environments is a pre‑requisite.
