Peterhouse Primary Academy is a welcoming and inclusive school serving a diverse community.

Many of our children and families face a range of social and economic challenges and we recognise the important role that strong pastoral and family support can play in helping every child to thrive.

The Pastoral Support Assistant will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing and engagement of pupils, helping to identify and overcome barriers that may affect their learning or experience of school.

The role will also include working directly with parents and carers, providing practical support, guidance and a positive link between home and school.

Working closely with colleagues and external agencies, the role provides an opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to children and their families.

It is a varied and rewarding position, at the heart of our school community, with relationships and early support central to the work.

• Warm, approachable and able to build trusting relationships with children and families
• Experienced in working with children, families or in a support role
• Understanding of the barriers that can affect wellbeing, attendance and learning
• Confident in supporting parents and carers sensitively and without judgement
• Organised, resilient and able to work effectively with others
• Aware of the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Passionate about making a positive difference to children and families.

The successful candidate will work Monday-Friday 08:30-15:30 (with 2 x 30 minute breaks each day)

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and you will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced DBS check with barred list. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.

This post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations and the successful applicant will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether they are disqualified under these regulations.
