This position is primarily responsible for cutting material used in chassis. The operator will measure and cut material to produce pre‑cut tube. A cut house saw operator reports to the team leader to ensure daily goals are met.
Duties and Responsibilities- Observance of all safety rules and policies maintained by the company.
- Assurance of accurate measurements on all cuts.
- Maintenance of good housekeeping practices throughout the installation area.
Key Responsibilities
- Combine specified designs and measurements, appropriate component parts, cutting, and welding systems to produce pre‑cut tube.
- Maintain raw material inventory (plate, channel, tube, angle, etc.).
- Move raw material to and from saw area.
- Maintain saw, saw tables, saw blades, rollers, etc.
- Ensure secure material handling through safety cross‑checks.
- Primarily on the floor/in the work area, may be exposed to elements (heat, snow, etc.).
- May sit or stand for several hours at a time.
- Repetitive use of hands to operate machinery.
- High school degree or GED.
- Must be able to operate appropriate equipment including band saws, tape measurers, etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Work as part of a team to achieve the company’s overall demand and goals.
- Basic computer skills to post‑production tags onto the system.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Read and process written communication including work orders, frame prints, and measurements.
- Meet production goals and time deadlines for company projects.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Welding competency and knowledge of welding systems.
- Rotate to other splice or production welding positions as needed.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Diplomacy, tact, maintain professional relationships with supervisors, teammates, customers, etc.
- Work under physically and mentally stressful situations.
- Prioritize and adapt to changes throughout the day.
This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, balance, reach, handle, and climb all day. May lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work may involve moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and conveyor roller lines, outdoors in all seasons. Noise level is moderate to loud.
Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and wet work possible. Personal protective equipment includes work gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, cut‑resistant sleeves, and seasonal gear (steel‑toed shoes or boots with metatarsal guards).
Full‑time hourly position. Hours and days are based upon operational need; some Saturdays will be mandatory.

- Ability to read and understand basic blueprints.
- Lift truck operators license preferred (training available).
