Part-time Marketing Manager - Storytelling Grant

Position Summary:

The marketing manager plays a leading role in elevating the digital presence of Goshen College’s five-year storytelling initiative, More Than Just Stories, funded by the Lilly Endowment. The successful candidate will help to develop and promote branding, build audiences and drive engagement for More Than Just Stories and the five individual storytelling projects: two podcasts, a speech contest, a documentary and a storytelling festival.

The marketing manager will work closely with the project director, senior producer and other members of the storytelling team, including faculty colleagues in the Communication Department and the Religion, Justice, and Society Department. The manager will also work in collaboration with the Goshen College communication and marketing department, website developers and external consultants. The manager will have oversight of the websites.

The manager will regularly meet with an external advisory group of marketing professionals who are committed to the success of More Than Just Stories. The chosen candidate will have experience marketing across traditional media, social media and websites. This position requires a creative, self-motivated professional with excellent communication, technical and organizational skills. Attention to details and deadlines is crucial. The marketing manager will report to the project director.

Essential Functions:

Serve as a key member of the storytelling leadership team based in the Communication Department

  • Assist project director, senior producer and others as key point of contact for storytelling grant, which will require interactions with faculty, administrators and staff across campus
  • Support faculty directors in developing, producing and hosting their respective storytelling projects
  • Attend regular staff planning meetings and participate in other activities

Presentation oversight and content delivery

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of an effective marketing plan and branding campaign
  • Ensure consistency across platforms and websites in terms of brand messaging, imagery and visual identity

Social media community engagement

  • Monitor comments, messages, tags and mentions, responding when appropriate to foster positive engagement
  • Engage with students, faculty, alumni and external audiences to build authentic connections

Analytics and performance monitoring

  • Track and analyze engagement metrics, reach, impressions and audience growth
  • Prepare periodic performance reports and recommend content adjustments based on data insights
  • Set benchmarks for engagement and provide insights to inform future campaigns
Education and Experience:

The successful candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study and several years of professional work experience demonstrating a high level of marketing skills in various settings.

REQUIRED:

  • Portfolio that reflects high level marketing that includes promotion of products and events
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of internal staff and external partners
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively

PREFERRED:

  • Ability to help plan and organize events
  • Cultural competence demonstrated through travel, study or other activities
Special Requirements :
  • Some travel related to storytelling events, conferences and workshops as well as other business relevant to the project
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
