Utility Locate Technician

Position:
Locate Technicians at Grid Hawk LLC. Responsible for locating underground facilities including telephone lines, electric power lines, cable lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines and sewer lines. This role helps ensure compliance with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Requires the ability to use multiple locating methods.

Technicians may work independently or as part of a team, under supervision. Requires focus, skill, and use of machinery and/or tools. Grid Hawk LLC is an equal opportunity employer. All employees can advance within the company, based on performance and satisfactory.

• Locate underground facilities by using a transmitter and connecting to buried facilities or pedestals.
• Work in and traverse various terrains in construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
• Conduct work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while communicating with customers, co-employees, and third parties.
• Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of required technology and tools.
• Collaborate with others in a supervised team environment.

• High School Diploma or GED
• State-issued driver's license
• Problem solving abilities
• Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
• Vacuum truck experience (A+)
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs
• Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours per day
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret prints at a high level
• Background screening: no violations within the last 5 years
• Pass a DOT drug test
