Goshen Club Café Assistant at Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County

This position assists with planning, preparing, and serving food while supervising members utilizing the cafeteria in a high-energy, enthusiastic manner.

• 25 hours per week
• Monday–Friday, 12:30pm–5:30pm

• Under the direction of the Cafeteria Supervisor, maintain the health and safety of all children in the assigned area; ensure staff adhere to behavioral expectations; maintain proper lighting and ventilation; keep the eating area and kitchen clean according to Department of Health standards; follow food handling and preparation procedures; keep the area hazard-free; ensure equipment is in good condition; greet members at the entrance;
  
  be prepared to implement emergency procedures when necessary.
• Maintain members  self-esteem using the Youth Development Strategy.
• Serve food at assigned times.
• Foster a culture where members respect and seek advice from staff regarding problems in or outside the Club.
• Promote ongoing messages in all programs that members make appropriate choices about educational, personal, physical, and emotional needs.
• Hold members accountable for their behavior.
• Model and teach character, morals and ethics.
• Build positive relationships with parents of members.
• Advocate for our members and the Club, inside and outside the Club.
• Perform administrative tasks, such as filling out reports and forms as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED
• Demonstrated competence working with youth
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Team player with high energy and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to assist in preparation, serving and clean-up in the cafeteria area
• Ability to follow Serve Safe procedures
• Ability to assist in the preparation of food/snacks
• Ability to follow cafeteria cleaning procedures
• Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods; ability to reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; and lift/carry/move objects up to 20 lbs

Base pay range

$15.00/hr - $16.00/hr
