Hours:
37.5 hours per week, term time
Salary: £39,000 pro rata
Security Clearance:
Must be eligible for Security Check (SC)
What You'll Be Doing
You'll deliver engaging, hands-on training in Mechanical Craft and Fabrication, helping trainees develop the essential skills needed for their future engineering careers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing practical engineering skills - teaching essential hand skills such as fitting, filing and precision workmanship.
Bringing technical drawings to life - helping trainees understand and interpret basic engineering drawings.
Building workshop confidence - demonstrating the safe and effective use of workshop tools, machinery and equipment.
Championing Health & Safety - embedding safe working practices and ensuring a positive, safety-conscious learning environment.
Coaching and mentoring future engineers - monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback and supporting each trainee to reach their potential.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from practical engineering professionals who are ready to share their expertise and help others succeed.
You'll need to have:
A strong engineering background, preferably in mechanical engineering, fabrication or a related discipline.
A minimum Level 3 qualification in an engineering-related subject.
Hands-on workshop experience and confidence using hand tools and machinery.
The ability to interpret and explain basic technical drawings.
Good IT skills, including confidence using relevant hardware and software.
A positive, patient and engaging approach, with a genuine desire to support and develop others.
No formal teaching qualification? No problem! Your practical experience and enthusiasm for helping others learn are what matter most. Training and ongoing support will be provided.
Why Apply?
This is more than a change of role - it's an opportunity to pass on your knowledge, develop a new skill set and play a part in preparing future Royal Navy engineers for the challenges ahead.
