Position: Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker (Adults)

Main purpose and scope of the job

The focus of this role is on preventing domestic abuse by providing support, advice and assistance to adults in the community who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

  • Contribute to promoting victim’s safety by supporting women/men to construct a realistic safety plan. Whilst the needs of the non-abusive partner and children are often similar this is not always the case: the safety of children will always be paramount.
  • Manage a case load ensuring each client receives the appropriate service individual to their needs. Focusing on safety planning, practical safety measures and the use of civil and criminal justice systems in order to increase protection and support the transition of women/men and children from the abusive situation into safe and independent living.
  • Develop individual support plans to meet individual risks and support needs that client’s face, regularly review cases ensuring that all agencies are meeting the needs of clients. Ensure effective liaison with agencies regarding case management.
  • Focus on and prioritise cases and providing a pro‑active service through individual safety planning.
  • Where necessary, escorting clients attending court, Job Centre or local authority appointments, and on occasion accompanying clients back to their home with a police escort to collect belongings.
  • To provide resettlement services when women and their children moving on from refuge accommodation and to provide outreach services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse in the wider community.

Hours Per Week: 37 (Working within Monday - Thursday : 9:30am - 5:30pm, Friday 9:30am - 5pm)
