Overview

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading a shift of residential counselor staff in one of Seven Hills Foundation’s 24‑hour/7‑day-a‑week acute or congregate care settings. The Supervisor works in a staff ratio team, creating, monitoring, and maintaining a therapeutic treatment milieu. Supervisors are considered “essential employees” and may be required to work beyond scheduled shifts to maintain client‑to‑staff ratios or respond to declared states of emergency.

Compensation

Pay: $21.00 hourly

Bonus: $2,500 (50% paid at 6 months and 50% paid at 12 months)

Responsibilities
  • Insure the safety and supervision of staff and youth through active engagement and therapeutic observation, and report immediate concerns to the Milieu Coordinator, manager, or Administrator on call.
  • Maintain a therapeutic milieu and daily programming schedule, including:
    • Social growth and connection, building social skills
    • Emotional expression and self‑regulation learning
    • Positive behavior encouragement
    • Overall functioning improvement
  • Cultivate a professional staff team, ensuring residential counselors receive critical updates, specific shift assignments, training, and coaching; address staff issues promptly.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries—physical, emotional, logistical, informational/privacy, staff‑to‑staff, and staff‑to‑providers—while developing supportive, trauma‑informed relationships.
  • Participate in facility upkeep: daily chores, room checks, laundry support, meal preparation, and cleanliness.
  • Document client care, including reviewing intake reasons, treatment plans, shift notes, Rehab option notes, shift logs, medication administration, safety plans, special programming, incident reports, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Obtain and maintain up‑to‑date certifications in CPI/De‑escalation, First Aid/CPR, Medication Management/MAP, and Van Safety.
  • Be a reliable leader: arrive on time, attend required meetings, bring concerns to the milieu coordinator or manager, and view clients through a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed, culturally responsive lens.
  • Prevent crisis using approved behavior management models; de‑escalate verbally and, if necessary, use physical management interventions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Conduct intakes and implement therapeutic treatment plans.
  • Observe client functioning and report medical, psychological, and behavioral information to the clinical team.
  • Mentor clients to modify negative attitudes and enhance self‑esteem and insight.
  • Overnight counselors or third‑shift supervisors stay awake for full shift, performing bed checks, laundry, unit upkeep, scanning, etc.
  • Be available to be temporarily assigned to any residential service program as needs arise.
Qualifications
  • Experience with youth in a residential setting.
  • Professional, ethical, and compassionate conduct with consumers/clients.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal transportation; driving under the influence is prohibited.
  • Adherence to agency ethical standards, confidentiality, and privacy practices.
  • Ability to build rapport and work effectively with others.
  • Capability to perform physical aspects of the job, including client engagement and authorized physical management interventions; requirement to remain on feet for many hours.
  • Ability to fulfill all duties with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Completion of the agency’s human services worker safety training and approved de‑escalation training.
