Overview

Performs basic to advanced radiologic procedures under the direction of the Radiologist. Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm understanding and address questions. Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory requirements and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system.

Base pay range

$28.05/hr - $42.10/hr

Responsibilities
  • Position patients and select exposure factors for various radiologic examinations; provide radiation protection and safety according to prescribed methods.
  • Identify patient and label images; verify requisitions and physician orders for exam accuracy; ensure quality of radiographs and contact patients as necessary.
  • Assist, communicate and consult with Radiologists; work independently outside the department with providers.
  • Prepare and maintain records for regulatory compliance; enter patient and study information into the radiology information system; document billing codes of procedures performed.
  • Serve as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff; provide guidance to staff at the facility and across the system.
  • Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to educate on managing patients after procedures and imaging department processes.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which may involve lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months
Education & Experience
  • Advanced training beyond high school that includes completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Radiologic Technologist role
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in radiology positioning and techniques, aseptic techniques and C-arm; strong knowledge of radiation safety and radiology equipment
  • Knowledge of specialty physician protocols and ability to work effectively with diverse providers
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy; excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills
  • Ability to work independently; intermediate computer skills
