ROLE SUMMARY- Behavior Technicians (BT’s) at LPRC are responsible for delivering high-quality, ethical ABA services under the supervision of a BCBA. The following expectations apply to all BT’s to ensure effective therapy, professionalism, and client safety.
- Implement ABA services as outlined in the client’s BCBA-developed treatment plan.
- Adhere to all BACB ethical guidelines and LPRC policies.
- Accurately collect and record data and session notes for each billed session within 48 hours, ensuring notes are objective and truthful.
- Use only evidence-based, non-aversive strategies focusing on assent; avoid unauthorized use of punishment, coercive language, and threatening tone of voice.
- Maintain client dignity and respect at all times and avoid discussing challenging behaviors in their presence.
- Attend all required training and supervision sessions
- Deliver services with consistent focus and minimize distractions or off-topic conversations during sessions.
- Bill only for approved, direct ABA services as guided by funding sources and supervising BCBA's.
- Convert any non-billable appointments in a timely manner.
- Ensure parent/guardian signatures are collected on session notes and take-home logs are completed professionally using caregiver-friendly language.
- Session notes must be completed within 48 hours of a scheduled billable session.
- Sanitize and clean all surfaces and materials between client use.
- Conduct diaper checks every 30-45 minutes for clients in diapers; clean and change as needed, sanitizing surfaces after each change.
- Wear gloves when handling food or assisting with hygiene tasks.
- Ensure all client belongings are labeled with first name and last initial.
- Place all dirty diapers, used gloves, and feminine products in diaper pails.
- Keep bathroom doors partially opened during toileting routines with clients unless in the presence of another staff member.
- Employees are expected to use and care for assigned iPad responsibly.
- iPad must be checked in and out as required, and documentation is completed any time a device leaves the clinic.
- If an iPad is lost or damaged outside of company business (e.g., personal use, mishandling after checkout), the employee will be financially responsible for repair or replacement and documentation will be required.
- If an iPad is damaged during client sessions or company business, the incident must be immediately reported to the Clinical Director and documented, including the cause of damage.
- The Clinical Director will determine whether the device will be repaired or replaced and whether the cost is covered by LPRC.
- Return all session materials (e.g., toys, books, art supplies) to their designated storage by the end of the day.
Mandatory Training Overview
All Behavior Technicians (BTs) and BCBAs at LPRC are required to complete several mandatory training upon hire and on an annual basis thereafter. These training ensure staff competency, client safety, and compliance with legal and ethical standards. The Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring training completion and may delegate facilitation to a BCBA, BCBA trainee, or Lead RBT.
Training RequirementsNote: New hires must have CPR/BLS certification, a cleared background check, and 40-hour RBT course certificate before providing direct services.
QUALIFICATIONSTo be credentialed and maintain your status as an RBT at LPRC, you must meet and maintain the following qualifications:
- Adherence to LPRC dress code
- Timely and professional communication with supervisors (email/text)
- Timely timesheet submissions and calendar management
- Adherence to treatment protocols and clinical instructions
- Receptiveness to feedback and implementation of corrective actions.
