Schedule: Full-Time Days - 9am - 5:30pm;
Call will include weeknights, weekends and Holidays rotation. 1 hour response time

GENERAL SUMMARY

Facilitate the provision of patient care by performing basic, age-appropriate nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide care for the age group(s) served.

  • Patient Care Skills
    • Assist the RN/LPN with functions to promote, restore, and maintain optimum patient health.
    • Participate in the creation and maintenance of a healthy work environment by: i) Accepting professional direction and leadership of the RN ii) Communication with RN regarding progress of work, problems encountered, or work completed.
    • Perform patient hygiene activities (bathing, foot care, shaving, hair care, etc.).
    • Assist with patient mobility activities (ambulation, transfers to chair, etc.).
    • Assist with transfer of patients from bed to stretcher and vice versa.
    • Assist keeping patients clean, dry, and turned to prevent skin breakdown.
    • Perform non-sterile treatments.
    • Assist monitoring and reporting of patient pain levels; help achieve optimum comfort (e.g., repositioning).
    • Ensure supplies are available by retrieving/returning equipment per procedure.
    • Perform other related duties as requested and directed.
  • Patient Care Skills. Assists RN/LPN with inpatient and outpatient monitoring activities
    • Obtain patient-related information and reports and documents per policy (vital signs, basic patient care, valuables).
    • Observe and report patient elimination patterns. Empties foley bags and records output.
    • Complete I&O records.
    • Obtain and record patient weights.
    • Assist with preparation of patient for surgery and special procedures.
    • Collect non-sterile specimens.
    • Recognize and report abnormal or unusual situations (pain, respiratory distress, skin changes, etc.).
    • Utilize computer entry as directed.
    • Observe patients in restraints for comfort and safety per policy.
  • Dietary - assist patients with meals, snacks; prepare for meals, assist with menu selection, collect soiled trays, deliver snacks, record intake, report eating problems, and perform related dietary duties.
  • Transportation - transports patients safely; observe condition and notify changes.
  • Safety - maintains a safe environment; uses Universal Precautions; observes fall risk; reports damaged equipment; uses proper body mechanics.
  • Quality Improvement - participates in QI activities; data collection; supports corrective action plans; cost containment.
  • Environmental Services - perform limited housekeeping in select areas as needed.
  • Compliance - comply with policies/procedures and attendance rules.
  • Essential Functions
    • Mobility to move between rooms/areas and assist with patient care evacuation; lift/move equipment; use transfer techniques.
