• Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
• Demonstrate clinical competence, compassion and customer service orientation within the framework of the Seven Dimensions of Patient Care and Benner's Domains of Nursing Practice.
• Provide patient care respecting rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and needs; assess family needs for information and education, plan and implement patient teaching, evaluate effectiveness, alleviate patient fears and anxiety, apply pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic approaches for comfort and pain relief.
• Collaborate with patients/families, hospital staff and community agencies to develop discharge plans.
• Perform admission, risk factor and medication reconciliation assessments; initiate appropriate interventions (e.g., Skin Bundle, Fall Prevention Plan, VTE preventive measures).
• Document nursing interventions (NIC) and outcomes (NOC); conduct daily monitoring and report patient response to interventions.
• Administer therapeutic regimens, basic nursing procedures (dressing change, catheterization, NG tube insertion, suctioning), and medical interventions as ordered.
• Maintain peripheral IV therapy, obtain body fluids, perform blood capillary glucose monitoring, and administer medications, IVs, blood products per policies.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and provide comfort, safety and well‑being support.
• Recognize acute changes in respiratory, neurological, cardiac and urinary status; respond with direct intervention and physician/SWAT notification using SBAR.
• Respond to life‑threatening emergencies, initiate CPR, assemble equipment, and perform emergency checks.
• Communicate with interdisciplinary teams and physicians to ensure progression of patient care.
• Support quality improvement activities and participate in teaching/mentoring of student nurses.
• Maintain confidentiality, safety protocols, and cost‑effective use of supplies.
• Lead and mentor staff, communicate expectations, resolve conflicts, and maintain a healthy work environment.
• Fulfill orientation requirements of 3‑9 months on‑the‑job experience to acquire necessary knowledge and skills.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Certified BLS Provider (or Certified Instructor) credentialed from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
