RN Registered Nurse - PACU 1 (Full-Time)
Location:
Grand Blanc, Michigan. Hospital:
Henry Ford Health Genesys. Department: PACU 1.
Schedule:
M-F 9a-9:30p, rotational weekends, on-call including holidays.
- Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients within the framework of the Seven Dimensions of Patient Care and Benner's Domains of Nursing Practice.
- Demonstrate clinical competence; compassion and customer service orientation; focus on process and outcomes; and cost-consciousness when assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients.
- Coordinate development of a multidisciplinary plan of care in accordance with Nursing Problem Care Sets, clinical practice guidelines, and professional and regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate length of stay, use of resources, and achievement of quality outcomes.
- Provide patient care that reflects respect for patient’s rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs.
- Assess patient/family needs for information and education across the continuum, plan and implement patient teaching using a variety of techniques and methods, and evaluate effectiveness of educational interventions.
- Collaborate with patient/family, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans that prepare patients for continued care needs.
- Perform comprehensive assessment for risk factors including fall, skin breakdown, VTE, and aspiration.
- Initiate appropriate initiatives such as SkinN Bundle, Fall Prevention Plan, and SCD.
- Execute medication reconciliation upon admission and changes in level of care.
- Establish, direct, coordinate and document plan of nursing care in conjunction with patient/family.
- Initiate problems and outcomes list based on medical diagnosis and patient needs.
- Monitor, document, and report patient responses to interventions and progress toward outcomes.
- Document nursing interventions, education, and evaluation every shift.
- Educate patient regarding treatment plan, safety measures, medications, and self-care as indicated.
- Review discharge plans and instructions with patient before discharge, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
- Document patient care according to established documentation guidelines.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill application of basic nursing procedures including dressing change, catheterization, NG tube insertion, and suctioning.
- Implement and complete medical interventions as ordered; initiate standing orders appropriately.
- Conduct daily assessments and initiate interventions to prevent or minimize patient skin breakdown.
- Establish and maintain peripheral IV therapy; obtain body fluid specimens; perform blood capillary glucose monitoring.
- Administer medications, IVs, and blood products according to policies and procedures.
- Prepare patients for surgery or other invasive procedures per guidelines.
- Assist or perform procedures per standards of care and nursing practice.
- Operate equipment such as IV pumps, PCA pumps, epidural pumps, feeding pumps, and patient beds.
- Monitor patient responses and adapt interventions as needed.
- Review work in progress to ensure timely completion of treatments, medications, and tests.
- Review patient medical records and confer with physicians regarding treatment plans.
- Monitor physiologic parameters including vital signs, lab work, I/O, and blood glucose; intervene appropriately.
- Assess pain level and manage pain through medication and alternative interventions.
- Respond to acute changes in respiratory, neurologic, cardiac, and urinary status promptly.
- Initiate CPR and emergency equipment checks when required.
- Provide support, summon resources, and promote a safe environment for patients and families.
- Communicate with other professionals to ensure appropriate patient progress.
- Maintain quality of care and ethical standards, respecting confidentiality and advanced directives.
- Utilize universal precautions and cost-effective supply usage.
