As a Kroger Bakery Clerk, you create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same. You establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return, assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, and monitor all quality‑assurance standards. You demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that match their orders and correct portion sizes.
• Recommend bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use all equipment—including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens—according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe.
• Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review “sell by” dates.
• Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, and robot coupe.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout to locate products when requested.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer questions.
• Maintain inventory and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers and answers product questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Desire to gain an understanding of food production and basic cooking techniques.
• Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency.
• Good basic math skills.
• Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.
