In this role, you will work with young learners, guiding them through challenges and fostering their emotional and social growth. You’ll split your time between Schickler Elementary and Lynch Elementary, collaborating with dedicated staff and engaging directly with students and families.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Social Worker credentials suitable for Michigan schools
- Experience working as a Social Worker within an educational environment
- Familiarity with elementary-level caseloads or young student populations
- Strong communication, advocacy, and crisis-intervention skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
- Flexibility, empathy, and a student-centered mindset
Key responsibilities:
- Provide short-term social/emotional support and counseling to students at both elementary schools
- Conduct student assessments and maintain compliant records
- Consult with classroom teachers and special education teams
- Develop and implement strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning
- Make referrals to outside agencies as needed and coordinate services
- Attend meetings to report on student progress and participate in IEP/504 planning
- Serve as a liaison between school, families, and community resources
