Responsibilities
  • Remove and install windshields, back glass, door glass, and quarter glass to OEM repair procedures and the ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS 002 auto glass safety standard.
  • Prep pinch welds correctly. That means trimming urethane to the right bead height, treating bare metal and rust, and using primers the right way.
  • Pick urethane that fits the vehicle and conditions, and follow safe drive-away times every time.
  • Look up OEM repair information (GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Stellantis) for glass procedures, one-time-use parts, and calibration requirements.
  • Spot vehicles that will need an ADAS calibration after glass work, such as forward cameras, rain/light sensors, heads-up displays, or lane-keep and emergency-braking systems. Flag them for our calibration team.
  • Help with static and dynamic calibrations and set up targets when needed. If you can’t calibrate yet, you’ll learn to calibrate though on-the-job training that will be provided.
  • Repair rock chips and short cracks using the NOVUS system.
  • Remove and install trim, moldings, emblems, cowl panels, mirrors, and clips without damaging them.
  • Do minor paint corrections like buffing, polishing, and fixing small defects for collision repairs and used-car reconditioning.
  • Document your work with photos and notes, check parts against the order, and report hidden damage or extra parts needed.
  • Keep your area clean, safe, and organized, and follow shop safety and hazardous-materials rules.
Knowledge Required
  • How auto glass works as part of the car's structure and airbag system, and why proper bonding matters for crash safety.
  • Glass types (laminated, tempered, acoustic, heated, HUD-compatible) and how to tell OEM from aftermarket glass.
  • Urethane chemistry, cure times, and how temperature and humidity affect safe drive-away time.
  • ADAS basics: which systems mount to or near the windshield, the difference between static and dynamic calibration, and when OEM procedures require a calibration.
  • How to find and read…
