Job DescriptionPurpose: Timely, accurate, and safe administration of resident medications in our memory care units according to the health professional's orders. Ensure all aspects of the resident's personal care and service plan are implemented while treating the resident with dignity and respect. Assist each resident to be as independent and self‑sufficient as possible.
Med Tech Responsibilities- Timely and accurate administration of medications to residents as ordered by the licensed health care professional.
- Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration in the EMAR system.
- Follow proper protocol for reporting medication‑related concerns.
- Accurately count and document medication inventory, including narcotics and controlled substances. Reorder medications timely to assure residents do not miss doses.
- Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room. Comply with EMAR requirements including charging the Chromebook.
- Routine and non‑routine communication with licensed health care professionals, pharmacy, hospice personnel, home health care personnel and resident family members.
- Proper documentation of all communication relating to resident care including changes in medication orders.
- Respond to resident requests for assistance, including “call lights”.
- Observe residents for any change in condition (physical, emotional, cognitive or behavioral).
- Communicate any change in condition to the supervisor.
- Assist residents to maintain their highest level of independence.
- Comply with infection control protocols.
- Treat all residents with dignity and respect.
- Provide excellent care and service to the residents of this living center in accordance with their individual written plans of care and service.
- Other duties as assigned or as may be necessary to assure that the goals and objectives of this living center are fulfilled.
- Serve as a goodwill ambassador for this living center.
- Comply with Life Safety policies and periodic “drills.”
- Assist residents as needed to attend life enrichment events and meals.
- Participate in training opportunities.
- Report safety and health hazards to the supervisor.
- Assist in dining room service.
- Comply with rules and regulations governing Homes for the Aged.
- Work cooperatively with others on the same shift and across shifts.
- Report to work as scheduled.
- Compliance with all Resident Rights including confidentiality.
- Compliance with all rules and regulations governing care of residents in a Home for the Aged.
- Compliance with the guidelines stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA);
Competency Evaluated Nursing‑Assistant (CENA);
Medical Assistant (MA); L.P.N. or other credential or experience that prepares the individual to perform the duties required. - Must be 18 or older.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of this position physically and mentally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Competency trained in proper administration of medications.
- Able to lift 50 lb.
- Able to stand, bend, twist, turn, stoop, squat, sit, kneel, pull, push, and walk long distances on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
- Ability to push/pull medication cart.
- Ability to assist residents in showers, toileting, transferring, and all aspects of personal care.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with residents, co‑workers, and supervisors.
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions, particularly as they relate to medication orders.
- Emotional stability to appropriately handle resident care needs, including chronic illness, challenging behaviors, dementia‑related issues, and death of residents.
