Lab Assistant

Position Summary

Involved with registration, collection, processing and quality control of specimens, receives and instructs patients, processes lab orders and distributes laboratory reports.

Part time – 16 hours per week. Night shift.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy training certification preferred.
• Experience preferred.
• Proficient use of computers.

• Collect blood samples from patients.
• Accurately identify, lab transfer and process specimens.
• Receives and instructs patients, nurses, staff physicians, doctor’s offices regarding proper collection of specimens and laboratory reports, procedures and other lab information.
• Receives and instructs patients, interprets physician’s orders, enters orders into lab computer system and schedules appointments.
