Overview
Chief Buildings is seeking a 1st shift Material Handler to join the Chief team. In this role, you will support production and distribution by staging materials and parts to ensure the timely completion of final products. You’ll utilize a computer-based scheduling system (IFS), forklifts, overhead cranes, and manual lifting to move and organize materials efficiently. To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication skills, be highly organized, and demonstrate effective time management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Adhere to all quality, safety, and inspection standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment to stage, load, and unload materials for various production processes.
- Maximize efficiency by completing assigned tasks within designated time frames and assisting with routine equipment maintenance.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and computer-based data entry using the IFS scheduling system.
- Interpret fabrication drawings to calculate weights and lifting requirements as needed.
- High School diploma, or GED, preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to interpret fabrication drawings.
- Proficient in basic math, computer use, and written communication.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus.
Responsible for creating a collaborative, safe and hazard-free environment that is driven by employee involvement. Other responsibilities include leading departmental continuous improvement projects, supporting and executing all safety and health policies and programs, employee training and incident investigations.
Shift- 1st Shift – 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
