The position is located at the VA medical Center, Medical Service, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Duties

Grand Junction VA Medical Center is seeking a Hospitalist. Preference is for a BE/BC internist. New Residency Graduates considered. Family Practitioners with appropriate experience may be eligible for consideration.

A hospitalist physician at Grand Junction VAMC provides coverage for our acute care medical inpatient facility, our Emergency Department, and for our Chronic Living Facility. Our facility, although small, sees the full gamut of acute inpatient medicine care. Daily rounds, inpatient consultation and admitting/discharge responsibilities are components of the Hospitalist position. Grand Junction VAMC serves Veterans living throughout the Grand Valley and a large surrounding geographic region.

There are both Telehealth Clinics and a Community Based Outpatient Clinic serve as outreach tools.

Grand Junction is an exceptional living environment. Year round outdoor adventures are possible in a climate that offers four seasons with a relatively mild winter. Mountains, canyons and rivers are ubiquitous with skiing within one hour and Grand Mesa offering numerous water and other recreational opportunities essentially in town. The small city of Grand Junction has it's own airport and downtown offers a variety of eateries and entertainment.

The calendar is full with festivals. Colorado Mesa University provides a rich academic and cultural resource.

Blakney

Hospitalist rotations are Monday through Sunday, Monday through Thursday, or Friday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m. Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) is first line Emergency Room internal medicine coverage with tour of duties of Monday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m. with one night 4:00 p.m.

- 8:00 a.m. once every 14 days.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Some lifting (35 lbs and over); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (up to 3 hours); standing (up to 3 hours); repeated bending (up to 1 hour); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordinator simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13" to 16 "; hearing (aid permitted).

  • Background and/or Security Investigation required.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must have a full unrestricted License
  • English language proficiency
Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

Basic Requirements

Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience:

Two years of practice experience.
