Job DescriptionRESPEC, Inc. is seeking a Project Geologist for its Grand Junction, CO location who will perform the following job duties.
Performs geologic logging and sampling for soils, rock, and other materials according to well developed standards and protocols to support geological interpretation, resource estimation and determination, geochemical analysis, geotechnical testing, and other engineering design and interpretation
Develops, designs, and manages drilling, sampling, testing, and other similar investigative programs for various commodities of interest to support geological and hydrogeological exploration and investigation activities associated with studying and developing geological, civil, and mining-related projects
Prepares and contributes to technical reports (complying with applicable international codes and standards), such as:
Geological summary reports, scoping studies, and preliminary economic assessments
Pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies
Other geological reports
Provides clients with timely, effective, and professional communication of all findings, conclusions, and recommendations, ensuring alignment with project scopes and expectations
Develops, implements, and supervises all quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) aspects specific to the areas of geological analysis and reporting, including:
Design and execution of such programs
Data compilation and analysis
Database development and maintenance
Performs all project management and oversight functions for geological and similarly related projects.
Ensures projects are completed within agreed‑upon schedules and budgets
Trains, mentors, and develops junior geological staff
Must have Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Geological Engineering or related discipline plus 6 years of experience, in resource, exploration, mine development and production geology, including the following:
A thorough Understanding of sedimentary geology and the various aspects of volcaniclastic sedimentation
Ability to identify and describe different sedimentary, evaporite, and volcaniclastic rocks in core specimens (e.g., claystone, sandstone, halite, tuff, and ash) and structural features (e.g., joints, fault gauge, and slickensides)
Must have Professional Geologist (PG, P.Geo., or CPG) licensure or ability to obtain upon hire
10% travel annually to domestic and/or international client sites/drill rigs
Salary depends on education and experience, range is $k. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe‑benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee‑owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
