Qualifications –License,
Education and/or Experience
Required:
- Associate degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent with at least five (5) years in Sterile Processing OR Operating Room work experience required OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience is required.
- Certified Registered Central Supply Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Surgical Technician (CST), required.
- Good customer service and organizational skills. Attention to detail. Expert knowledge of instrument processing standards and regulations, instrument processing equipment and surgical instrumentation and power systems.
- In-depth understanding of sterilization techniques, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with relevant guidelines and standards, such as those from AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) and CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Essential Functions- Supervision and Leadership
- Manage and lead a team of sterile processing technicians and staff.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure staff adherence to protocols and standards.
- Sterilization Processes
- Oversee and coordinate the sterilization and decontamination processes for surgical instruments, medical devices, and other equipment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Quality Control
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to guarantee the effectiveness of the sterilization process.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Inventory Management
- Manage inventory of sterile supplies and instruments, ensuring an adequate supply for surgical and medical procedures.
- Coordinate with other departments to meet the needs of various healthcare units.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of sterilization equipment.
- Ensure that equipment is in proper working condition and meets regulatory requirements.
- Policies and Procedures
- Develop, update, and enforce departmental policies and procedures related to sterile processing.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry best practices.
- Collaboration
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and infection control personnel, to optimize sterile processing workflows.
- Training and Education
- Provide ongoing training and education to sterile processing staff on new technologies, techniques, and protocols.
This position's pay range is: $35.00 – $42.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.
Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increases, market adjustments, recognition bonuses and other forms of discretionary compensation may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
