Job Description

A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs.

A Medical Assistant will be responsible for communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.

External Candidates:
To show our commitment to you and to assist with your transition into our organization, we will also offer up to a $3,500 Sign‑on Bonus when applicable for full-time employment.

At least two years of Medical Assistant experience is required; immunization and phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.

Shift Details

Monday–Friday shifts vary from 8 to 10 hours depending on which clinic you are working. Clinics are typically open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; no weekends or holidays. An additional $1.75 differential is provided for floating to different clinics.

Role Responsibilities
  • Providing Patient Care:
    Under the direction of the Clinician, assisting the provider to gather information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
  • Effective Communication:
    Communicating clearly with patients through telephone and in‑person interactions.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Working with cross‑functional teams to collaborate on patient care. Attention to detail and follow‑through are key components in delivering needed care.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers, obtained prior to the start date.
  • Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience OR a current active and in‑good‑standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Colorado.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
  • Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
  • Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
  • Current national MA certification from one of the following:
    Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Physical Demands:
The role requires seeing and reading information, labels, assessing patient needs, operating monitors, identifying equipment and supplies, and frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors. The employee must verbally communicate and understand spoken information and alarms quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity is required for manipulating complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation, medication preparation, etc.

The employee is expected to lift, bend, carry, and transfer patients or supplies up to and including heavy items, walk and ambulate patients, and push or pull gurneys and portable equipment. The employee may be required to navigate crowded and busy rooms and may need to stand for extended periods. For roles requiring driving, the employee is expected to drive a vehicle, which requires sitting, seeing, reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
