Job Summary
Job Title: Corps Assistant

Rate of Pay: $16.50 per hour

- Assist Corps Officers with a broad range of programs:
Sunday School, worship services, fellowship, outreach, social services, senior classes, visitation, Bible studies, men’s fellowship, recruiting, transportation, youth programs, and Corps reviews. - Provide support for and attend divisional and territorial events such as camp meetings and congresses.
- Ensure efficient implementation of TSA youth programs, including teen groups, troops, junior soldiers, cadets, summer programs, VBS, and seasonal activities.
- Participate actively in Christmas Kettle fundraising (driving, devotions, counting, supervising volunteers).
- Support Christmas/Thanksgiving social services (Angel tree, toy/food distribution, site recruitment, tag delivery, setup, distribution, cleanup).
- Work a nonstandard week, including Sundays, evenings, and special Saturday events per Salvation Army schedules.
- Strengthen relationships with children and families via neighborhood visits, outreach, and ministry programs.
- Recruit, train, develop, and coordinate leaders and volunteers for youth programs; lead programs if needed.
- Coordinate corps transportation needs.
- Recruit youths to volunteer in corps ministry and outreach.
- Collect and input statistics and data.
- When handling monies, work with the office assistant to account for income and report per TSA policy.
- Assist in preparing invoices and other financial documentation.
- Support audio/video equipment operation in the chapel and other program areas.
- Help produce member directories, flyers, and Sunday bulletins.
- 21+ years of age and a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Must obtain a commercial driver’s license within 90 days.
- Must be able to operate Salvation Army vehicles per driver safety standards and training.
- Must pass TSA MVR check and the in‑house Driver Safety test.
- Responsible for coordinating fuel, cleaning, and maintenance with Corps Officers.
- Maintain cleanliness and repairs of the corps building during and after programs.
- Assist Corps Officers with special projects, janitorial duties, and building maintenance.
- College degree desired.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of Salvation Army programs, policies, and procedures desirable.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children or young adults required.
- Ability to teach Christian principles and lead youth programming.
- Detail oriented, self‑starter, outgoing, energetic, team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication in English;
Spanish desirable but not required. - Excellent telephone skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Independent work and initiative, prioritization, sound judgment.
- Recruit, lead, and empower volunteers and employees.
- Professional handling of sensitive and confidential information.
- Complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines.
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher) required; familiarity with integrated database and graphic programs.
- Position requires driving; minimum age 21.
- Valid in‑state driver’s license required.
- MVR check reviewed annually.
- Continued employment contingent on biennial background checks per Salvation Army policies.
- Maneuver: walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist.
- Remain stationary, grasp, push, pull, reach overhead.
- Operate telephone, lift 25 pounds, use computer, read written information.
- Perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
