Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The RN utilizes the nursing process with technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.
The Emergency Department is a 33-bed unit with 3 Trauma Bays. We are a Level 2 Trauma Center, Accredited Chest Pain and Stroke Center. The typical nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 4:1. The department fosters a welcoming, supportive culture emphasizing a collaborative team approach.

Location:
St Mary's Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado - One year of licensed RN experience in an Emergency Department required.
- Assess:
Perform comprehensive assessment of physical, social, and psychological status. - Plan:
Use assessment data and critical thinking to develop individualized plan of care. - Implement:
Coordinate and delegate care, prioritize tasks, and manage resources. - Evaluate:
Review outcomes, revise plan, and reassess changes. - Professionalism:

- Current RN license in operating state; compact licenses transferred within 60 days of hire.
- Less than 12 months RN experience must obtain BSN within 4 years of hire.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- BSN required as of 4/27/2025. Earlier hires/promotions subject to previous requirements.
- Visual acuity and hearing for patient communication and monitoring.
- Manual dexterity for equipment handling and documentation.
- Lifting and transferring patients and supplies, including heavy items.
- Ability to walk, push/pull equipment, and navigate busy spaces.
- Standing for extended periods.
