Interior Mechanic

An interior technician's job description is to install, remove, repair, and maintain the interior components of an aircraft, which includes tasks like fitting seats, galleys, panels, and carpeting. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to read technical blueprints and use various hand and power tools. They are crucial for ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and compliance with aviation standards, often working in a structured environment like a repair station.

• Install and remove aircraft interior components such as seats, galleys, lavatories, sidewalls, panels, and carpeting.

• Repair and replace damaged or worn interior components, including brackets, panels, and upholstery.

• Perform modifications and upgrades to existing interiors.

• Assist with the installation of basic electrical systems for interior lighting and other components.

• Document work, track parts, and ensure compliance with company and FAA procedures.

• Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and collaborate with inspectors and other technicians.

• Comply with safety policies, maintain a clean work area, and use personal protective equipment.

• Remove and reinstall fasteners and use material tracking systems.

• Work with other technicians and departments, and sometimes train junior technicians.
